Snake has a serious dilemma when it comes to location. Snake loves the Northern US. He grew up in South Dakota and truly enjoys the change of seasons. That being said when the weather starts to get cold he becomes depressed. All the "Bad" things that have happened in his life; the Leningrad Ruse, New York, discovering his parents' corpses, Taylor dying, Maggie dying and a whole long list all happened in September, October and November. Fall depresses Snake. Winter however drives him into PTSD flashbacks. Deep snow, mid calf-ish, is one of Snake's triggers. He's much more prone to flashbacks in the winter than any other time of the year.

Snake has a few other influences. Snake has traveled extensively on his own and while in the military. He's become quite a linguist because his paranoia drives him to know what the locals are saying. (See paranoia can be good XD) He has also gained a taste for some exotic foods. He loves spicy Thai and Indian food. He also picked up a taste for Cuyes, guinea pigs. He craves Cuyes now and then much to the dismay of most people he knows.

In a very real sense the fact Snake is constantly armed is his location. His United States is filled with criminals, cannibals and crazy cops. A good portion of those people are after his hide. I suppose in that his paranoia, jumpiness, prone to be overly armed, distrust and all together sour disposition is partial a factor of his environment. That tense, ready to spring mentality doesn't dissipate either no matter how safe his current surroundings are.

There isn't another song more fitting for how I feel than this one. I've been this song for years, since I was in my early twenties. I don't think that will ever change. I like to play this on the guitar.

This one I've felt more and more as time goes on.

I've always liked orange. The fuck if I know why but since the military I dream in orange. The pain in my eye feels orange. Sounds fucked up that pain feels a color. They say it's because of the nerve damage to the eye. The fucking wires are crossed so I can feel colors and see pain. Orange is the only color I can feel. It's really fucked.

I don't wear orange. I don't feel compelled to buy orange things but I'm very conscious of the color. I like the color but seeing it triggers the fucking pain. It's all bullshit phantom pain. When the neurotoxin gets in your eye the first thing you notice is your eye sight gets this orange fucking haze. Then the pain starts like fucking hot orange in your brain. Since then, all my nightmares have been in shades of orange too. It's more than that. The gas in the sunrise turns every thing orange and purple. Explosions look orange and so does your skin from the reflected light. Whole fucking war looked orange sometimes. All I remember from some of the missions is thinking how fucked it was for the Siberian snow to look fucking orange as a glass of juice.

Really fucked that a color can get to you like that.

1. Behind Blue Eyes- The Who.

This is always the first song I think of. Aside from the fact Snake does have blue eyes the lyrics are perfect for the man he is. The song to me has always been about a man cold and hard on the outside but wishing he could be something else, something softer and more like everyone else.

2. The Unforgiven - Metallica

This is another song about a man who is other than he wants. To me this song has always represented Snake's view on his military career and the backlash after. The man crushed, imprisoned and still trying to go on. This song always reminds me of Snake's military career and then the after and Escape from New York.

3. Save Yourself - Stabbing Westward

Snake's canon relationships have always been between himself and someone pushed and broken as far as he is. As odd as it might sound for me this is canon Snake's love song. The I want to love you but it's not safe.

4. Blood Red Skies- Judas Priest

..... do I even need to say more? This is Snake's determination.

5. I Don't Want to Be a Hero -Johnny Hates Jazz

This is Snake through and through after he saw the truth of war. He's good at war. He loves war and yet he hates the blood and the death. He thinks it's a waste.

You really fucking expect me to post this out for all the damned world to see? Who the hell put the fucking moron in charge that thought this was a good question?
