Snake mixed up a batch of the tea herb Xena had given him when he was shot that helped ease him and get him to sleep. It was the least he could do. The offer of taking the gang out for a walk sealed the deal. He was stressed lately and just getting out for a walk with the dogs would be nice.

Snake loaded up Zena, Rusty, Daisy and Sarge in the Humvee and headed out. It was a short drive over to her place. Once outside he called up to tell Rachel he was outside. He let the four dogs out to explore the sidewalk while he waited. They all had collars but no leashes.

Her laughter subsided a bit. "I used to." Before Crane. "There was a doctor who was bribed into diagnosing insanity to perfectly sane mobsters, as long as that got them off. Got drugged with a fear toxin and nearly killed. Haven't stepped foot there lately."

They erased my friend's memories in that hell hole. The way Snake said "Friend" had lot more affection than he said when talking about most people.

It took calling in all the favors I could to get her mind back. I wouldn't send my worst enemy to that place. I know what they do in there.

Rachel nodded. She knew as well. And she sensed the raw emotion behind his words, and would respect the memory behind them. "I wouldn't send anybody there, either."

She sighed, rubbing her tired eyes with the base of her knuckles. "So what does that tea do again?"

You look like my kids. Snake smiled as she rubbed her eyes. Makes you relaxed and sleepy.

Snake pulled out a Ziploc bag of mixed herbs. Just remember two tablespons, one pot a day. I don't want to hear shit about you vomiting and passing out.

She grinned over at him, hand latching on to the Ziplock. "Maybe I'll meet them someday?" she asked. "Your kids. If you'd like, that is."

Her eyes traveled over to the herbs. "Two tablespoons, one pot a day," she echoed with a firm nod. "Maybe I'll finally get some sleep. I don't think I've clocked in more than two-three hours a night for the past several weeks."

Maybe. Snake smiled. Most days all you got to do is stop by the shop. Kids like to go to work with dad.

Snake nodded. If that doesn't work let me know. I can see about something else. My wife and couple others I know are really good with herbals.

"I'll bring Shadow with me, too," Rachel added lightly. "She's actually very well-trained but it never hurts to show her another trick or two."

"Thanks again, Snake." Rachel's grip tightened on the bag. "I really need this. I owe you one."

Sure thing. My shop is kid and dog safe.

Snake smiled and patted her shoulder. You don''t call the cops when I show up. We're even.

"Not even, but if you say so."

Rachel smiled back, closed her eyes briefly. There was silence, a good kind of quiet. Just them and the dogs. Away from the courthouse and the madness and the danger of her thoughts. She could stay there for a while longer - she could stay there and not be made to go back - but she remembered she had promises to keep, and Harvey was waiting for her.

Her eyes open up again, and she tilted her head toward him. "We should probably be heading back."

Snake stood up and offered her his hand.</i. Lets get going. I've got stories to read when I get home or trouble with someone far worse than an angry wife.
