The whole solitary confinement bullshit had Snake at the end of his nerves. He paced around the room like a caged animal. There was no way out. He had looked before but that didn’t mean that he couldn’t take the time to look again. This was Hell. He was sure of it as he scanned the half dark and nearly empty room.
After two hours of pacing his legs were stiff and he resigned himself to sitting on the bed again. Sighing he leaned back against the wall and gazed blankly at the ceiling. He continued to stare until his eyes felt exhaustively heavy and the sunlight began to filter into the crack near the ceiling that the police claimed to be a window. He couldn’t stay awake any longer and slumped over in the bed pulling the pillow to his chest.
Snake didn’t know how long he had slept when he heard the lock turning on the cell door. “What now?” he wondered as he stretched on the bed. The guards walked in with shackles but their eyes went wide as they looked at Snake. He couldn’t understand why. They had that expression of a woman in a horror movie that had just come face to face with the movie monster. Then they screamed and stumbled over each other.
Snake had enough of this and opened his mouth to shout ironically “What the fuck is wrong with you pussies.” Instead a huge roar came forth from his mouth. It startled Snake nearly as much as the guards fleeing out the door. He stood confused only until he saw the huge tan paws on the concrete and felt four feet on the floor. Snake didn’t know what had happened to him but the door was open and he wasn’t going to pass up that opportunity.
Snake bolted toward the door his new body was fast and he could hear the nails scrape against the floor as he rushed the front of the building. Guards ran for their lives. No one even tried to stop him as he jumped against the heavy steel door that led to the parking lot. The door buckled and then burst open under the tremendous weight that had just been hurled against it. He didn’t stop running it was a long way to the other side of New York City and with any luck he would stay like this until he arrived home.
