Snake had the twins for the day. Jondy had been nice enough to take Toby and Cassie to the park. She thought it would be good for them and Snake couldn't agree more. So with a promise to pick Cassie up in a few hours and be home to make dinner since neither Bria or Evie were feeling well today Snake headed out. He wasn't sure what to do at first. His intention was to get the twins out of the house, as well as the dogs who were in the back of the humvee so Bria could relax and feel no obligation to take care of anything other than herself. Finally he settled on going to see Mab. He hadn't visited her since before the birth. He wanted to see the babies and how the two Griffins were doing. Certainly terrorizing the court if nothing else.

He took a leisurely drive out there. No, the court of the fae queen wasn't something you could normally just drive to. It took more than that but Plissken had figured that out months earlier. He left the humvee not far from the main grounds but under the supervision of her guards. Last thing he needed was to come back to find it stripped by a tinkerer or eaten by whichever fae it was that swallowed big things whole. He put Steven up in the backpack and carried Mia with the diaper bag on his shoulder and the dogs in tow. He was certain his arrival was already reaching Mab. Court talk always went fast. Rumors were the only thing that could spread faster.

He wasn't sure where he'd find Mab but headed for the main building. The dogs stayed close by as he walked warily. He wasn't normally worried about being here but with the dogs and his youngest he wouldn't be able to relax until he was with Mab who was much better at keeping an eye out for problems.

Mab had taken the triplets with her to one of the estates. It was as close to an actual outing as she'd taken them in a long time. She hadn't been overly social with the young ones beyond the help that was necessary given the sheer number of children in their home. There are few explanations she had as to why other than it was what her instincts told her to do and she trusted them. The funny thing at the Tir na n'Og was that roads bent to help those with power or those liked by those with power. So there was nothing really surprising about seen Snake drive up in the humvee, a bit about him trusting the guards, but her men did excellent work and it was, indeed, safe.

Unlike her actual Court, the estate looked like a queen's Court. Rolling grounds and beautifully imposing buildings surrounding a central compound. If she hadn't been in residence, there would have been a small herd of faerie hounds running the grounds. As it was the bulky black hounds and the sleek white and red eared hounds were kept in the kennels for the time being. The scent of the foreign dogs leads to eerie baying of the more than mortal beasts. Then the normal yelling at dogs to shut up followed by a high pitched whistle that leaves them all quiet. Which comes from Mab, who is sitting on a blanket spread over a patch of ground kept relatively warm by a gift she had received recently.

The triplets are arranged on the blanket doing as is in their nature to do. Moria is shaded behind a stuffed bear and sleeping peacefully. Donovan is aimed head first at Mab on his stomach, trying out his arms and testing their ability to push him up right. Isolde is snuggled comfortably in her mother's arm and Mab is peaceful. "I didn't expect you, Snake."

No one does.

Snake smiled seeing her with the triplets. There was something about babies that just turned him into an utter pussycat compared to his usual demeanor. The dogs trotted up to investigate but they were used to children. Curious but respectful and would certainly back off if either Mab or the babies displayed any sort of discomfort with their presence. Snake joined her with his own who were very curious about the smaller babies.

How are the four of you sweetheart.

"I'll keep that in mind." Mab is relaxed about the dogs approaching the babies, more than one might expect from her general retreat from people. Moria continues to sleep, by far the most antisocial of the group and least likely to wake in the day by nature. Donovan looks up, just able to hold his head upright and more able to focus than the average six week old. The joys of faerie blood. Isolde is just babbling and happy like she was beforehand, happily oblivious.

"We seem to be doing well. Nice to get out of the apartments for a little while."

Snake sat with Mia in his lap and pulled Steven and the pack off his back. Both the twins were curious but still clung to their father. Steven was much more adventurous though and stood holding on to Snake.

Good to be outside. I'm giving mom a break from the little monsters.

Snake looked over the twins and grinned. They're adorable. Hard to remember mine being that small.

"It's been too long since I've enjoyed some time outside, myself. Isolde and Donovan would be able to enjoy the cold with me, but Moria seems to have inherited a more human constitution when it comes to the cold." A slight smile at the two in their father's lap. "And despite your words, I refuse to believe those two lovely children are anything but a delight, even if their mother is no doubt glad of the break."

Mab gently shifts Isolde to a single arm and picks up Donovan who has decided that he's quiet tired of his sister to get all the attention and has begun to fuss. "And yet they've got six weeks of growth from when they were born. But thank you. I have to say the redhead makes for interesting conversations."

Suppose that kind of draw's expected when it comes to mixed children. I see some of it in Cassie sometimes. Snake smiled at the babies debating if it would be in appropriate to ask to hold them.

Bria cursed herself naming the boy after me. Snake grinned a little knowing any boy raised by him was sure to be a little bad.

I can barely believe these two are about to be a year old already.

"At least there's no confusing them, given the mix. But I'm sure it comes through in her." Mab seems very comfortable in holding them, one eye on Moria who seems content to ignore everyone else and sleep forever.

"Hmm, I think she asks for trouble, she did marry you after all." Teasing glimmer.

"I can, but I'm counting down the days until four months are up."

No, there's no denying them. Think the sleepy one looks a bit too much like you to be confused. Snake finally lets the two twins go though the dogs have laid down around them, resting but watchful.

She'd claim I'm the one looking for trouble. Probably both are. Chuckles at that look.

For which reason are you counting?

Both girls do, just me in different times of my life.

I'm quite sure it's both of you.

Solid foods. Longer between feedings. More time in general.

I didn't know you then so be hard to say.

I can guarantee that.

That is a good thing. That first week they sleep through the night is like a miracle.

I could probably call up the look, but trying to break the habit of changing. It's hard on the kid.

No need. I already believe.

I don't doubt it. I'll take the first night. They've each managed a night or two apiece, but not all three at the same time.

I know all about that. I've been wondering if the kids should see what wlse I am, just in case.

Sure you do.

Two is better than none. It'll get better sweetheart.

I suppose that depends on if you're ready for all the consequences.

I'm actually used to only sleeping in snatches, so it could be worse. Not to mention the insomniac I married. If it was a full work schedule people would probably be paying dearly.

I am. Think the little ones could wait a bit longer. Evie's met him already.

I know how that is. Bria was laughing not long ago how my insomnia's finally making up for putting up with my grumpy ass when I don't sleep.

At least it's part handled. Fortunately for all involved within my family, whatever I look like is what I look like.

At least that implies your ass is less grumpy when you do sleep.

It's not so much what he looks like as the fact I'm dead when he is around.

Guess it does.

That would definitely be a problem.

There's little to no difference in my house.

Yeah it is.

I don't think it does much for me either.

Someday they'll understand. All of them, for both of us.

If she notices, it does. But sometimes women get finely tuned to their men.

I'm sure they will. Evie and Bria both took it pretty well. Xena, she wanted to kill me again for not warning her.

She's learned to deal with me. I've learned to deal with her. part of being with someone is letting them be moody sometimes.

Two of a kind.

The nature of many very different people in the same institution.
