Flying lessons (Jekyll/Rose and family?)

Snake woke still curled around the bottle on the pilot's seat. He was cramped and cranky. He missed his bed and sighed wondering where the hell he was. For a moment he thought he was back in the war. Luckily that cleared before he opened his eye. There was no telling what time of day it was. Snake didn't care as he shifted around to get comfortable. He still wasn't much in the mood for company but he was going to have to be.

Reluctantly he sat up in the seat blinking at his reflection and mussed hair. He looked like shit and felt almost as bad. Rubbing his eye he slid the hatch back and listened. It was still quiet and Snake leaned the seat back intent on a few more minutes of sleep. He'd come out when he were ready.

I climbed up, getting into the other seat, my movements more than a little gingerly. Rose said he wouldn't let anything happen to me, I believed her. It still didn't make this any easier; "As ready as I'll ever be..." I said, smiling nervously.

Snake turned around and showed him how to buckle the seat belt harness.

It's going to get cold and you're ears might fill up when the cockpit pressurizes.

Snake turned back to the front and buckled himself in before sliding the cover over the cockpit.

I'll show you the instruments once we're up and you're settled in.

The cabin started to cool down, air hissing in as it pressurized .

"Okay..." I said, my voice still nervous. I closed my eyes as things began to hiss, my heartbeat speeding up even more. The pressure in my head started to become uncomfortable but I tried to keep my breathing normal, tried to keep calm.

Just relax. Snake smiled knowing it was easier said then done.

Take off's going to be rough. We got wind coming in. Just remember no matter what we're not going to fall out of the sky.

Snake flipped on the jetpack so it would heat up.

They'll be a jolt and some bumping as we take off. You might get queasy from the Gs but it'll be over soon as I turn off the pack.

Snake glanced over his shoulder. I'm ready whenever you are.

"As Rose will testify I am not exactly the calmest person at the best of times..." I laughed, and it was almost hysterical in nature. I continued to concentrate on my breathing, it would be okay... I didn't need to worry, nothing was going to happen.

I hoped.

I nodded once and smiled slightly; "I'm ready"

I swallowed hard.

Snake nodded and pushed the jet into the green. There was a massive jolt and some bumping as the glider rolled across the lawn. As suddenly as it started it was smooth with a slight rolling up and down as the glider road the air currents. Snake turned the thrust off and glanced back at Henry.

You make it?

I felt my stomach lurch as we began to move, and I bit my lip hard to both stop whatever was left in my stomach coming back up again and myself from crying out. It got steadier as I felt us taking off and after a short while I felt myself relax slightly, my hands relaxing at my side. I smiled, slightly wider this time;

"I think so..." I even laughed, and even that seemed calmer.

[identity profile] http://users.livejournal.com/_call_me_snake_/ 2006-12-07 12:45 am (UTC)(link)
Snake smiled. Why don't you take your belt off and have a look out the hood.

Snake tapped the glass dome over them. We're still over Rose's house.

[identity profile] a-darker-dream.livejournal.com 2006-12-07 12:48 am (UTC)(link)
I undid my belt with slightly shaking hands, manouvering myself so I could look out. I felt slightly light headed as I looked down and my stomach lurched again ever so slightly but only because it was all so new. I smiled widely as I spotted Rose's house; "It's amazing..." I said softly, my voice awed.

Snake smiled. Why I love flying. Just wait until you see the clouds.

They were steadily climbing higher.

[identity profile] a-darker-dream.livejournal.com 2006-12-08 01:52 am (UTC)(link)
I continued to look out the window, watching the world get smaller and smaller the further we got up into the sky. The sickness had settled a little and a smile crossed my features. It was amazing. I still wished that Rose was here though.

Snake smiled remembering briefly what it was like the first time he went up with his father. He wished a lot of the time he could stay up here.

You might want to hold on. It'll get bumpy when we hit the air currents under the clouds.

Snake waited for Henry to get situated before he would even start the approach toward the clouds.

I sat back and did my belt up the way he had told me and held on tightly to the arm rests.

"Okay, I'm ready" I said softly, the nervousness creeping back into my voice again.

OOC: Gah, sorry, I thought I'd done this... *facepalm*

Snake tilted the nose up and the glider started bucking violently. It was much worse then take off. It lasted a few minutes and then it was eerily calm. Snake grinned and there was a unusual amount of happiness in his voice.

Go ahead and look out now. (http://i5.photobucket.com/albums/y158/adira_tyree/Trip%20Photos%20and%20friends/From%20the%20plane/P1000113.jpg)

My hands gripped tightly as it began to shake violently and my stomach began to lurch again just as violently. I shut my eyes and attempted not to feel anything until it was over.

Then suddenly as it started it stopped and there was nothing apart from the roar of the engines. With shaking hands I undid my belt, shuffling myself ever so slowly across to the side of the plane, willing my stomach to calm.

My eyes widened as I looked out; "It's beautiful..." I said quietly, not really able to form the words to explain how I felt, what I saw.

[identity profile] http://users.livejournal.com/_call_me_snake_/ 2006-12-12 11:55 pm (UTC)(link)
Snake flipped off the jetpack and everything was silent except for them breathing.

Why I love it up here. No noise, no one to fuck with you. Snake took a deep breath. He was visibly calmer then Henry had ever seen him.

Once I find a good current you going to get up here and fly for awhile?

[identity profile] a-darker-dream.livejournal.com 2006-12-13 12:02 am (UTC)(link)
*smiles, understanding why Snake felt so at ease up here, it was calm, so peaceful*

I-I don't know... I'd probably end up crashing or something *laughs nervously*

[identity profile] http://users.livejournal.com/_call_me_snake_/ 2006-12-13 12:08 am (UTC)(link)
You'd have to be trying real hard to crash it. Snake shrugged. Besides I used to use free-fall tactics in the war. You know look like you're crashing then blow the shit out of the enemy because they aren't paying attention. I could pull us out of it.

Snake smiled. You might find this helps you better half calm down too. The "better half" part had a bit of sarcasm to it.
