Flying lessons (Jekyll/Rose and family?)

Snake woke still curled around the bottle on the pilot's seat. He was cramped and cranky. He missed his bed and sighed wondering where the hell he was. For a moment he thought he was back in the war. Luckily that cleared before he opened his eye. There was no telling what time of day it was. Snake didn't care as he shifted around to get comfortable. He still wasn't much in the mood for company but he was going to have to be.

Reluctantly he sat up in the seat blinking at his reflection and mussed hair. He looked like shit and felt almost as bad. Rubbing his eye he slid the hatch back and listened. It was still quiet and Snake leaned the seat back intent on a few more minutes of sleep. He'd come out when he were ready.

"I might try that actually, even if it's just to give me a bit of relief" I nodded, thinking about it.

It does wonders really. Snake finished his juice and smiled. You feeling better yet?

He was excited to get in the air. He loved to fly. Probably loved it as much as he loved Xena.

I nodded; "A little, yes, my stomach has settled but my head is still sore" I was also worried about Rose, I wondered if he could tell. I just wanted to hold her, to make sure she was okay after last night.

Snake nodded. Why don't you take a few more minutes while I go pull the glider out. You can meet me outside when you're ready.

Snake could tell something was still wrong but he figured it was the alcohol.

I nodded; "Okay..." I frowned a little; "Do you think she's okay Snake? After the way she left last night?" I knew he wouldn't have to ask who I meant, she was practically most of my thoughts recently, especially if she wasn't with me.

Snake shrugged. Women do that.

God knows Xena did that enough with no reason at all.

Why don't you go check on her while I get things ready?

I sighed, I knew Rose had a temper on her, but I also knew that she had a reason last night. But I didn't say anything about that, we were all a bit drunk anyway; "I would, only I'm not sure where her room is and I don't want to wander around upstairs without permission... she might not even want to see me"

Call her. She always has her phone with her. Snake smiled as he stood up.

I need about ten or fifteen minutes to get the glider out on the grass anyway.

"I didn't think of that" I chuckled, reaching into my pocket and taking out my phone.

"Okay, I'll phone her and then come out and see you - I'll be even less time if she doesn't want to see me..." I sighed, running my fingers through my hair.

I flicked through my phone book and picking out her mobile phone number I pressed call and listened to it begin to ring on the other end. I hoped I didn't wake her up...

In fact, Rose was curled up in a ball in bed, still fast asleep. This wasn't something she had a chance to do all that often and when she had the chance to, she laid in. The phone began to vibrate beside her and she frowned, reaching for it without opening her eyes.

"Hello?"

"Rose?" I cured myself mentally. "I-I'm sorry to wake you. I just wanted to see if you were okay, before I went with Snake..." I wasn't going to say how much I had missed her after she had left last night, or how I had spent the night on the sofa, or been sick...

She groaned a little, "Yeah, fine, I got called out in the middle of the night, so I get the morning off." Yawning she stretched, "Where are you calling from?"

Her yawn was infectious and I found myself yawning too; "Downstairs, I slept on the sofa, well as much as I could - I didn't want to disturb anyone by walking about upstairs. I'm glad that you're okay though..." my voice held more than a slight bit of relief.

"Why didn't you come up? You didn't have to..." Rose felt bad now and let out a soft sigh.

"I don't know my way round, trust me to have opened the door on your mother and father - she'd really have something to shout at me for then" I laughed a little. "It's fine Rose, I'm fine, you know me, I don't sleep much anyway" unless she was with me but I wasn't going to say that, although I wouldn't be surprised if she already knew.

Rose closed her eyes, suddenly feeling even worse. "I'm sorry."

"It's fine love, really it is" I smiled a little. "Don't worry about it. I'm sure Snake will delight waking me up shortly, well that and upsetting my stomach again" I still felt a bit green.

"Upset?" Slowly she let out a soft laugh, "feeling a little under the weather?"

I laughed as she did, my stomach lurching ever so slightly at the movement; "Yeah, just a little bit..." I admitted, knowing that by doing so it gave her free reign to tease mercilessly.

She laughed a little more, "You need to learn to drink."

I laughed; "Yes, I do. Snake says it gets better, but I'm yet to see it" I was glad that she seemed to be better than she had left us last night, if sleepy.

"When are you going flying then?"

"As soon as I've finished talking to you" I said softly, smiling. "Must admit I'm still very nervous..." my voice had taken on a more hesitant tone.

"You'll be fine," She yawned again, her voice still so very sleepy. "You shouldn't worry."

"Yeah, I know, but you and I both know I worry too much. Although at the moment I think I'm more worried about vomitting in Snake's glider" I laughed a little.
