Snake had left New York after his talk with Rachel. He wasn't so happy about it and knew it would mean not seeing her but some things were more important than him or his friends. Snake could recognize that at times. The drive to Illinois wasn't a bad one. He had a long talk with Cronenberg on the way. He was looking for a scientist to help. He needed one for this job. His eye drifted to the case of stolen biotoxin. Snake had seen the outcome of exposure and the whole experience seemed surreal.

Cronenberg had seemed even more nervous about the item int he sealed black briefcase than Snake had. When the man who can mostly, almost calmly inject explosives into a man's neck gets nervous Plissken got a pain in his guts. However Cronenberg assured him he knew a scientist who could help and that would be able to meet with him in Springfield. If any relief could be had that was it. The remainder of the drive involved hours of working over every contingency and possibility his mind could conceive. It kept him busy on the nearly 20 hour drive. He didn't dare stop.

Plissken drove on to the motel and got in his room. He still had the case sitting on the edge of the bed when his boots were off. He feared the case. He didn't fear much but this thing in particular deserved the fear driven respect. Peeling his shirt off he tossed it aside before carefully sliding the case beneath the bed. He needed the sleep. His sleep was fitful. Between the terror of the people he had met down stream from the plant and the night terrors of somehow the case would come open while he slept it was hard to get more than twenty minutes at a time.

Eight AM arrived leaving Plissken swearing he was more tired now than he had been when he laid down. There was a brief wish for a couple lines of coke to get him moving before he forced himself to sit up. Cronenberg had set the meeting for this room come nine thirty. The first item of business was to wake up. Shuffling he headed for the bathroom, kicking his pants off along the way. He turned the cold handle all the way around before getting in the shower. The water was freezing but it was instant wake up call. Three minutes was all it took before he was back out trying to dry the goosebumps away.

He dressed quickly and unpacked the food Bria had insisted he took along. There was nothing quite as comforting and good as cold spaghetti and meatballs for breakfast. Plissken stretched out on the bed to eat. He needed to relax and take advantage of it before he embarked on his endeavors to deal with the mutigen. Satisfied with his meal he laid back to wait for his meeting. There was still an hour before she was due. No time like the present to get some of the relaxing done.

"Heh. Sorry." She nodded. "We can head back. I'll get started."

Joking sweetheart. Snake nodded and started up. Where will you be working?

[identity profile] firefly-baby.livejournal.com 2008-09-30 09:58 pm (UTC)(link)
"There's a college nearby, I know one of the professors there and he's given me a key to use his lab. If I need something else that's not there, I can simply call our friend and arrange something."

I'll be around too if you need anything.

[identity profile] firefly-baby.livejournal.com 2008-09-30 10:23 pm (UTC)(link)
She gave a small nod and settled back. "However I might try and nap for a while beforehand."

I got to go out for awhile. You're welcome to stay at the motel room before heading out.

[identity profile] http://users.livejournal.com/_call_me_snake_/ 2008-09-30 10:52 pm (UTC)(link)
I won't be back until late tonight. So you're welcome to.

[identity profile] firefly-baby.livejournal.com 2008-09-30 11:45 pm (UTC)(link)
"thank you." She was already yawning.

[identity profile] firefly-baby.livejournal.com 2008-10-01 12:45 am (UTC)(link)
"It's not a problem Snake, I hope that I can only find a solution."

[identity profile] http://users.livejournal.com/_call_me_snake_/ 2008-10-01 12:52 am (UTC)(link)
I do too. Snake sighed. I thought the neurotoxin was bad. This shit...I got no words.

[identity profile] firefly-baby.livejournal.com 2008-10-01 01:04 am (UTC)(link)
"Yeah, I don't even have words"

[identity profile] http://users.livejournal.com/_call_me_snake_/ 2008-10-01 01:06 am (UTC)(link)
I'd be worried if I did. Snake shook his head in disappointment.

[identity profile] firefly-baby.livejournal.com 2008-10-01 09:11 pm (UTC)(link)
she gave a small smile and rested her hand on his arm very briefly. "It'll be alright Snake. I will find a way to fix this."

[identity profile] http://users.livejournal.com/_call_me_snake_/ 2008-10-01 10:26 pm (UTC)(link)
I hope so. Snake nodded trying to smile but he really hated this type of thing.

[identity profile] firefly-baby.livejournal.com 2008-10-01 10:37 pm (UTC)(link)
IT wasn't a time to smile....so she just tried to keep her head up and find a way to do things.

[identity profile] http://users.livejournal.com/_call_me_snake_/ 2008-10-02 12:00 am (UTC)(link)
Snake would drive all the way back to the motel if she didn't say anything.

[identity profile] firefly-baby.livejournal.com 2008-10-02 01:12 am (UTC)(link)
And she didn't. She didn't even know what to say really. She was already starting to go over possible forumula's in her mind.

[identity profile] http://users.livejournal.com/_call_me_snake_/ 2008-10-02 01:18 am (UTC)(link)
Snake pulled up at the motel and parked next to her car. What should I do with Bambi?

[identity profile] firefly-baby.livejournal.com 2008-10-02 01:42 am (UTC)(link)
She looked back and then muttered. "No sleep for me...not until I get samples of blood, tissue and saliva from the animal."

[identity profile] http://users.livejournal.com/_call_me_snake_/ 2008-10-02 01:48 am (UTC)(link)
Why don't I drive you? Snake couldn't let her drive exhausted like this.

[identity profile] firefly-baby.livejournal.com 2008-10-02 01:54 am (UTC)(link)
She nodded. "Won't take me long. an hour tops. The college has freezers and I have a padlock. I can attach my friends name to a slip and lock it. Put the deer in there."

[identity profile] http://users.livejournal.com/_call_me_snake_/ 2008-10-02 01:56 am (UTC)(link)
Snake pulled out and nodded. Which way?

[identity profile] firefly-baby.livejournal.com 2008-10-02 01:59 am (UTC)(link)
"Go right up there and drive down, you can't miss the place." She laughed
