Snake had left New York after his talk with Rachel. He wasn't so happy about it and knew it would mean not seeing her but some things were more important than him or his friends. Snake could recognize that at times. The drive to Illinois wasn't a bad one. He had a long talk with Cronenberg on the way. He was looking for a scientist to help. He needed one for this job. His eye drifted to the case of stolen biotoxin. Snake had seen the outcome of exposure and the whole experience seemed surreal.

Cronenberg had seemed even more nervous about the item int he sealed black briefcase than Snake had. When the man who can mostly, almost calmly inject explosives into a man's neck gets nervous Plissken got a pain in his guts. However Cronenberg assured him he knew a scientist who could help and that would be able to meet with him in Springfield. If any relief could be had that was it. The remainder of the drive involved hours of working over every contingency and possibility his mind could conceive. It kept him busy on the nearly 20 hour drive. He didn't dare stop.

Plissken drove on to the motel and got in his room. He still had the case sitting on the edge of the bed when his boots were off. He feared the case. He didn't fear much but this thing in particular deserved the fear driven respect. Peeling his shirt off he tossed it aside before carefully sliding the case beneath the bed. He needed the sleep. His sleep was fitful. Between the terror of the people he had met down stream from the plant and the night terrors of somehow the case would come open while he slept it was hard to get more than twenty minutes at a time.

Eight AM arrived leaving Plissken swearing he was more tired now than he had been when he laid down. There was a brief wish for a couple lines of coke to get him moving before he forced himself to sit up. Cronenberg had set the meeting for this room come nine thirty. The first item of business was to wake up. Shuffling he headed for the bathroom, kicking his pants off along the way. He turned the cold handle all the way around before getting in the shower. The water was freezing but it was instant wake up call. Three minutes was all it took before he was back out trying to dry the goosebumps away.

He dressed quickly and unpacked the food Bria had insisted he took along. There was nothing quite as comforting and good as cold spaghetti and meatballs for breakfast. Plissken stretched out on the bed to eat. He needed to relax and take advantage of it before he embarked on his endeavors to deal with the mutigen. Satisfied with his meal he laid back to wait for his meeting. There was still an hour before she was due. No time like the present to get some of the relaxing done.

"Well, I'll do what I can, but we may need to find other help."

Just let me know and I'll see if I can help with finding people.

Snake pulled down a dirt road and started driving a lot slower. Keep your eyes open.

He slowed, pulled over and got out with his rifle.

She gave a nod, peering out the windows and looking around, biting her lower lip and watching.

Snake was too. That was when he saw one of the deer. Their antlers mangled and twisted like tree roots. The fur was matted and greenish welts were on it's skin.

Sweetheart. Snake motioned and brought the rifle up waiting for the herd to come out into the road.

Kay's eyes widened and she wrinkled her nose."Oh god...that poor deer...." She frowned and then waited for him to take the shot. "I'm going to do my best. Definitely."

Snake dropped the deer with one shoot before looking into the car. Good thing I didn't take you to the people. The kids are worse.

I'm going to need your help.

[identity profile] firefly-baby.livejournal.com 2008-09-22 01:50 am (UTC)(link)
"Of course." She took a deep breathe and opened the door and hopped out. She bit her lip and looked at him. "Yeah, thank you for that."

Snake went to the back and pulled out a tarp to wrap the deer. He also had gloves from the first aid kit and handed her a pair. Bad enough I saw it.

[identity profile] firefly-baby.livejournal.com 2008-09-26 01:23 am (UTC)(link)
She slipped the gloves easily on and sighed softly Sometimes she hated this line of work and then when she finally figured something out she found herself enjoying it once again. "I am sorry that you had to see such a thing. This isn't meant to be, unfortuantely someone's made it so."

[identity profile] http://users.livejournal.com/_call_me_snake_/ 2008-09-26 01:25 am (UTC)(link)
Snake pulled on the gloves and spread the tarp.

I've seen lot of shit that shouldn't be. Usually when you see it people in power are at fault.

[identity profile] firefly-baby.livejournal.com 2008-09-26 02:41 am (UTC)(link)
"Still, you'd think as a scientist we would respect these things, unfortunately for us, we don't we simply abuse them to our own twisted desires."

[identity profile] http://users.livejournal.com/_call_me_snake_/ 2008-09-26 02:43 am (UTC)(link)
Help me with the deer. Snake grabbed the front legs and frowned. People created this shit probably doing this at gun point. Guy I contacted to get to you was like that before we got him out of the shit.

[identity profile] firefly-baby.livejournal.com 2008-09-26 06:55 pm (UTC)(link)
She grabbed the other half and wrinkled her nose up slightly. Good god. "well thankfully you've gotten him out of it." She muttered. "I do so despise these idiots of science."

[identity profile] http://users.livejournal.com/_call_me_snake_/ 2008-09-26 10:36 pm (UTC)(link)
With her help Snake got the deer on the tarp. He was the only person kept his word to me.. once... he deserved out.

I could make you hate them lot more if you knew what I do.

[identity profile] firefly-baby.livejournal.com 2008-09-28 07:13 pm (UTC)(link)
"I'm sure that won't be needed" She muttered and helped him get the deer into the truck. "I'm sure I despise them quite enough for the time being, don't need something else to distract me from working"

[identity profile] http://users.livejournal.com/_call_me_snake_/ 2008-09-28 10:41 pm (UTC)(link)
Snake made sure the deer was well covered in the back. I'll try not to make it worse.

Snake pulled off his gloves stuffing them in the tarp with the deer.

[identity profile] firefly-baby.livejournal.com 2008-09-29 01:35 am (UTC)(link)
She did the same giving a simple nod of her head. "Thank you."

[identity profile] http://users.livejournal.com/_call_me_snake_/ 2008-09-29 01:56 am (UTC)(link)
Mot a problem. Snake headed for the driver's side after the back was closed up. You wanted to see the plant leak. How close do you want to get?

[identity profile] http://users.livejournal.com/_call_me_snake_/ 2008-09-29 11:28 pm (UTC)(link)
Should be able to get right up to it. Snake waited until she was in and started driving again. Hoping that they wouldn't see any of the people.

[identity profile] firefly-baby.livejournal.com 2008-09-30 02:07 am (UTC)(link)
"Good, I brought some vials with me and my heavy gloves, I can get a pure sample from the source."

[identity profile] http://users.livejournal.com/_call_me_snake_/ 2008-09-30 02:08 am (UTC)(link)
That's what's in those vials I got. Stolen right from the tanks inside. Snake smiled. If you want more though we can try.

[identity profile] firefly-baby.livejournal.com 2008-09-30 02:13 am (UTC)(link)
"I forgot. I'm sorry, I'm just still tired from the drive. " She rolled her eyes at herself.
