2. "The most powerful symptom of love is a tenderness which becomes at times almost insupportable." - Victor Hugo

Snake was starting to live a duel life. Outside his home he was getting darker, colder and more aggressive. At home though he was becoming more gentle than he had ever been. Most of the time he was awake and at his house was spent with his children and Bria. It wasn't uncommon to find him with the twins, Mason and Cassie doing something together, even if it was just watching TV. He was becoming a good father or was one by the comments of others. This was the family he wanted and even more-so that he was going to have one of his own. Not that it mattered but it was one more thing he wanted from life that he was getting.

Plissken spent a lot of time brooding on the dichotomy between the two people he was. They weren't two people per say. Both aspects were him and a part he accepted but it was as though certain personality traits were cut off for one or the other. He rarely got angry at home any longer. There were few arguments. Things were peaceful despite his outbursts of cravings which he was now curbing by chopping wood for the winter. The other side was getting more withdrawn and stand-offish. He was argumentative and aggressive as a norm outside the house unless he was drinking.

"Daddy?"

Snake looked up from where he'd trailed off into his own thoughts. "What is it sweetie?"

Cassie shoved the math worksheet at him from her homeschooling packet. "I can't."

"Sure you can sweetie." Snake reassured her as he took a look at the page of addition.

"NO!" Cassie was tired and Snake could easily see it.

"How about we do one and then we'll do something fun?" Snake smiled and waited while Cassie thought it over. A brief nod and she climbed up on the couch beside him.

"Which one should we do?" Snake asked trying to be diplomatic. Cassie pointed out the fifth of the five.

"You going to read it to me?" Snake was trying to get her to do as much of the work as he could.

"I don't want to." She was really not in the mood for this.

"Alright I'll read it for you but then you got to do all the writing." Snake picked up his book from the coffee table and slid it under the page so she could write. "ready?"

Cassie nodded and he read the problem. "Anna has twenty three ducks on her farm. She bought fifteen more at the fair. How many ducks does Anna have on her farm?"

Snake watched as she wrote the numbers and though it out. The problem didn't take long and Snake smiled.

"We'll do the rest after dinner. Sound good?" Snake was getting really soft, even on his kids.

"Ok." Cassie put the book down and climbed into his lap. He knew she was exhausted.

He picked her up in his arms and headed for the back door.

"Where are we going daddy?" She barely picked her head up from his shoulder.

"It's nice outside. I was going to go lay in the hammock." Snake hadn't stopped walking as she yawned.

"Ok daddy." Cassie held tighter and Snake started to laugh. Some badass he was napping in the hammock out back with his kids. As amusing as Snake might have found it he didn't complain. This was definitely the good life and by God he earned it by now.
